If you explore the different parts of the world, you will realize that in every place there is a specific group of organisms, animals and plants that fit one another and fit the environment of that place as well. Would it be people, animals or plants, when placed in a system together share a common denominator which is to live and let live. Every animal, every plant or every person in that system has a role in the circle of life.
An Ecosystem is a biological gathering of organisms, as well as the non-living things, the physical and the natural components grouped together in a specific area and lives in a cycle where each has a role in the cycle. There are different kinds of ecosystem and each of it is distinguished by the difference of their components and players in the cycle. The marine and aquatic ecosystem defines the group of organisms in the sea. The Agroecosystem is for the farm fields and the urban ecosystem is for the urban community. The Ecosystem is balanced and is govern by the Rule of Life or the Circle of life wherein each member of the ecosystem has a role for the survival of the other members and for a balanced ecosystem.
Biodiversity is the variety of organisms and other living things living in a specific ecosystem. It is a gauge for the health of the ecosystem. The greater variation of members in an ecosystem, the healthier this ecosystem is. Biodiversity is affected by the balanced proportion of each species that live in the ecosystem. It is also affected by the availability of food and other necessities. It's not affected by the number of the variety of species of the organisms but by the number of population of each species. For example, if there are too much rats in an Agroecosystem, it will cause an imbalance and disrupts the ecosystem. More rats mean more crops will be eaten and the reproduction of crops can't compensate with the rapid loss which leads to the scarcity of supply and death of other species in the ecosystem. Another example is the Aquatic ecosystem, if the population of the sharks which feeds with small fishes, the population of smaller fishes will dissolve destroying the Ecosystem.
Biodiversity is a very important factor in determining how conducive for living a certain area is. If you read through geographical books, it is usually or is always that the Rainforests have the greatest biodiversity and almost always that the area with the least biodiversity is Mount Everest. If the US is an ecosystem, it will gain a high biodiversity because people of different races are migrating there. The only ecosystem whose biodiversity has not been completely known of is the marine ecosystem. Scientists and biologists have not yet explored the depths of the deepest ocean.
The Ecosystem must be balance and must remain that way always. Imbalance would lead to the extinction of some species in the ecosystem and the destruction of the environment of that ecosystem. The Biodiversity of every ecosystem existing in this world as well as its components must be determined to prevent the catastrophic effects of an imbalanced ecosystem and to protect forehand the organisms that have a high risk for extinction.
Here is an example of a terrestrial ecosystem chart:
1. LOCATION: description of the place where the ecosystem is.
2. TERRAIN: the description whether it is land, water, field, aquatic or marine.
3. Wind Temperature, Wind speed, Ground temperature, if soil is present, the type of soil.
4. BIODIVERSITY
4.1. ANIMALS: to be enumerated by species with its estimated population
4.2. PLANTS AND TREES: enumerated by species with its estimated population
4.3. MICROORGANISMS: enumerated by genera and species with its estimated population.
5. MINERALS, NUTRIENTS AND THEIR SOURCES WITH THE VOLUME OR AMOUNT OR QUANTITY OF EACH KIND.
6. CONCLUSION: statement that concludes whether the area under study is conducive for living or not.
The existence of all the organisms as well as the non living components in the ecosystems in the world depends solely on the awareness and kindness of the highest form of life living on it and t...the moderator of the Circle of life... human beings.
