Kidney bean is popular pulses because of its shape and taste whose genus is Phaseolus, belong to the family Fabaceae. It is often an excellent dietary source of protein and minerals with no cholesterol. White kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) has Hypoglycaemic, anorexigenic, Antiradical and antioxidant activity. Molybdenum is naturally present in kidney beans which helps in producing energy by neutralizing toxic effects of sulphites. It also improves the proper functioning of fat, carbohydrates, copper, and nitrogen metabolism in body. Kidney bean is also a good source of folate which is important for the production of red blood cells and for the proper development of the brain and spine. It is also helpful in enhancing the replication of DNA and RNA to reduce the risk of birth defects. Tryptophan is one of the 10 essential amino acids which is naturally occurred in kidney beans. It is responsible to synthesize the proteins for brain cells need for enhancing the nerve cells conduction and transmission in body to reduces the risk of anxiety and depression. Kidney bean is also good source of dietary fiber whose intake daily intake is quite helpful for diabetic patients by improving insulin sensitivity and glucose homeostasis Maintain Your Memory with Thiamin (Vitamin B1) Thiamin participates in enzymatic reactions central to energy production and is also critical for brain cell/cognitive function. This is because thiamin is needed for the synthesis of acetylcholine, the important neurotransmitter essential for memory and whose lack has been found to be a significant contributing factor in age-related impairment in mental function (senility) and Alzheimer's disease. Daily intake of one cup of cooked kidney beans provides 18.7% of the daily value for thiamin. Manganese is also present in kidney beans in appropriate amount which is commonly known its role in preventing osteoporosis and proper blood circulation. Kidney bean contains eight basic form of amino acid which helps in improving the nervous system and immune system. A kidney bean is also known for anthocyanin which is powerful antioxidant to inhibit promotion and progression of tumor and cancer cells by accelerating the rate of cell turnover. Since kidney bean also contains considerable amount of copper which is important for enhancing the normal elastic properties of ligaments, joints and blood vessels to reduce the risk of rheumatoid arthritis.
